About Crystal Horkans, L.Ac.
When faced with a change in career several years ago, Crystal spent some time reflecting on her Asian heritage, and in doing so discovered Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine. Once she became aware of the immense health benefits the medicine had to offer, she knew she had found her calling. Crystal completed a Master’s Level Acupuncture Program at the American Institute of Alternative Medicine in Columbus OH, graduating with honors. She continued post graduate work as an acupuncturist mentoring with Dr. Shixi Chen, A Chinese Doctor of Oriental Medicine working side by side with her in her clinic, Acupuncture by Chen.
Crystal drew inspiration from the styles of Dr. Chen and Richard Tan, both of which incorporate traditional Chinese Acupuncture and the Balance Method (a system of rebalancing the body to create optimal healing). Crystal has treated numerous patients of all ages, including children as well as a variety of conditions such as pain, women’s health issues, digestive disorders, fertility problems and mental health.
Crystal is currently also pursing a certificate in Chinese Herbs at the Won Institute so that she may be able to offer another layer of care to her patients. Crystal strongly believes that each encounter with a patient is an opportunity not only to share her passion for the medicine, but also to partner with them on their journey towards increased health and wellness.
